For David Escobar, the usually dry but now overflowing river is worth riding his lawnmower to see. He's lived here for 25 years and said he's never seen anything like it.

"That's why we drove down here so I can show my grand daughter, this is something to see, something to see," said Escobar.

With just a couple more feet of water, the river could possibly overflow onto the Canutillo bridge and that's the concern for many of the residents in this neighborhood. Where the brush divides the river from the embankment has already started to overflow and many here believe it could get worse.

"Look at how high it is, you know, we've got what maybe three more feet and it's going to hit the bottom of the bridge," said Rose Heldt from Canutillo.

"We're just barely fixing the roof because we started having problems with the roof with this last rain and that's what we're doing right now fixing the roof, and then this," said Delia Trevino also from Canutillo.

The International Boundary and Water Commission have measured the flow and depth of the water.

"It is of concern. People need to not go down and hang out by the river this afternoon," said Sally Spener with the International Boundary and Water Commission. But they said the danger is less for homeowners, "the levels that we are expecting should not pose any threat to the Levy system it should easily be contained by the Levy's which means that there shouldn't be a risk for property owners."
