A flash lights up the morning sky Wednesday following a test launch on the White Sands Missile Range.
The THAAD missile is designed to play a primary role in the ballistic missile defense system, and Tuesday morning's launch is only the third in White Sands history to be open to local media outlets.
Dozens of calls flooded the KFOX studios just seconds after the launch with viewers reporting the streak of light in the Northern sky.
THAAD intercepted its target and the test has been termed to be a success.
