EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso County Sheriff's deputies said Salome Alvarez, 18, became upset after being asked to leave a private property on the 13000 block of Tobacco Road in El Paso County early Saturday morning.

According to sheriff's officials, Alvarez returned to the property in a yellow Mitsubishi Lancer, and drove into a crowd of teenagers. A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said Alvarez struck a 16-year-old man with the front of the Lancer, fracturing his leg, and then continued driving, hitting and running over a 17-year-old man, pinning him underneath the car.

Witnesses told deputies that onlookers had to force Alvarez out of the car into order to help the 17-year-old underneath the Lancer.

Alvarez was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and remains in the El Paso County Detention Facility. Both victims are expected to recover.
