EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso authorities traveled to Tennessee to pick up and bring back a suspected killer in a cold case they recently solved.

El Paso County Sheriff's investigators brought back Roger Evan Garrett Wednesday evening.

Garret is suspected of killing his stepfather Fort Bliss Maj. Chester Garrett in 1977.

His stepfather's body was found in the desert. Authorities said he suffered a skull fracture and stab wounds.

Garrett's widow, Lisbeth Garrett, was also arrested in connection to the slaying.

Roger Garrett was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center on a $5 million bond.
