El Paso County Sheriff's Office
CANUTILLO, Texas —
Two brothers got the truck they were in stuck on railroad tracks Thursday in Canutillo, El Paso County sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies were called to the scene and found David Michael Tilson, 23, and Jesse Ray Tilson, 21, in a Nissan Frontier stuck on the railroad tracks near Doniphan Drive and Talbot Avenue.
The deputy saw that there was a small amount of copper in the bed of the truck.
Because copper is known to be a highly sought-after theft item, deputies became suspicious and began their investigation.
They said they followed shoe prints next to a dolly with copper on it near the truck to a nearby recycling yard.
The Tilson brothers were arrested on suspicion of theft and interference with railroad property.
They were jailed under a $2,500 bond each. Officials said Jesse Tilson is currently on probation for burglary.
So far in 2012, deputies have dealt with 19 copper thefts.
