Doctors say this is the season where they'll see an increase in allergy sufferers and a whole new batch of patients who are dealing with the symptoms for the first time.

"It'll change from season to season, year to year. As you grow older, some young children have allergy problems that they can grow out of as they get older," said Jeff Davis, director of respiratory therapy at Las Palmas.

Davis suggested that if this happens, you should check with your doctor immediately.

"You want to make sure that you know the triggers and you know what's causing your asthma, what's going to cause an attack to go," Davis said.

Identifying an allergy is also important, because sometimes they're mistaken for the common cold.

"More often with a cold or a flu-type symptom, you may have a fever or a temperature that you won't have with allergies," Davis said.
