Three of four Socorro police officers arrested in a raid by the Department of Public Safety bonded out of jail on Thursday night.

Lt. Jose Alvarez, St. Refugio Orta and Detective Javier Varela bonded out of jail around 6:30 p.m. Their families, who packed their bond hearing, had been patiently waiting for hours for their release.

As KFOX14 previously reported, officials confirmed that the Texas Rangers arrested four officers and one police dispatcher. Officer Isreal Delgadobonded out of jail on Wednesday morning. Raul Huerta, a dispatcher with Socorro police, was also arrested and was in the custody of Immigration Customs Enforcement on a marijuana charge.

About 15 state troopers arrived at the police station Tuesday to carry out search warrants and make arrests, city spokesman David Garcia said.

Huerta was charged with possession of marijuana with bail set at $250,000.

Alvarez and Orta were charged with official oppression, and their bails were set at $250,000 each. At the hearing their bonds were reduced to just under $6,000.

Varela and Delgado were each charged with tampering with government records, official oppression and aggravated perjury. Varela's bail was set at $250,000, while Delgado's bail was set at $15,000. Varela's bond for each charge were also later reduced.
