Sobriety checkpoints scheduled for May in Dona Ana County

By Jesse Martinez

DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. —

The Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department scheduled two sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols for May, officials said.

Checkpoints and patrols are set to be conducted May 5 and May 27 at various undisclosed locations throughout Dona Ana County.

These checkpoints are usually set up between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m., officials said. Deputies will be looking for all types of violations with an emphasis on intoxicated drivers.

New Mexico law allows for the seizure or forfeiture of vehicles driven by people who have been convicted of multiple drunken driving offenses.
