Snow Falls Across El Paso

EL PASO, Texas —

Paul’s parents rushed him outside when they saw snow flurries falling. A change for the city known for its sun.

"It's awesome. I love weather like this because it never happens in El Paso," said Rose Pena, Paul's mother.

Some admitted they were caught off guard by such a change for the Borderland, even with a warning from the KFOX 14 Severe Weather Team.

"It just came out of nowhere. I did not expect this at all, cause just a couple of days ago we were running around in shorts," said Pena.

Just as the snow flurries turned to slush another round blew in. The second round brought with it big flakes.

"It stayed for awhile, then disappeared, and now it’s come back again," said Nancy Bain, of northeast El Paso.

Now children and adults alike are looking forward to what the city will look like when they wake up.

"Hopefully by morning, there will be enough to make a little snowball," said Bain.

Parents are preparing for another day of predicted cold temperatures.

"Gonna make sure to carry the baby's mittens and hat, gloves with him all the time, scarves and just make sure we have jackets on all the time," said Pena.

Many are hoping the snow goes as fast as it came.

"Beyond two or three days I really don't care for snow that much," said Bain.

Drivers were also affected by the snow. As snow cleared out of the northeast, it continued to make its way west, causing slippery conditions.
