Sleet, Winds Hit Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM —

The winter storm KFOX14 meterologist Sandra Diaz forecast hit the region with sleet, wind and cold temperatures Thursday afternoon.

A dramatic drop in temperatures hit the Las Cruces area, bringing temperatures from a mild 50 degrees to a much colder 34 degrees in just one hour.

Las Cruces bureau chief Phil Anaya tweeted that snow and sleet were accumulating on Telshor Avenue.

Meanwhile in El Paso, temperatures weren't nearly as cold though strong winds marked much of the afternoon. Gusts up to 61 miles per hour pounded Northeast El Paso.
