Shoppers Get Early Start In El Paso

EL PASO, Texas —

The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso opened their doors at midnight Friday, welcoming thousands of shoppers.

The mall had snow machines helping to get shoppers in the holiday sprit. Shoppers told KFOX they are not here for the snow but the savings.

Some stores were offering 50 percent--even 80 percent off regular prices.

Shoppers had to deal with major traffic near the mall. Getting thought the congestion took some people and hour and a half.

With a gloomy economic outlook some told KFOX they will do what they have to save a buck.

"I parked my car at a factory. Hopefully I don't get towed away. I guess we will find out later, " said Omar Herndon.

"There is people here trying to find deals because the economy is bad. If it wasn't for the sales, I would not be here. We went to a few stores that had no sales going on we walked back out. We are here for sales," said Amber Harrison.

Experts expected 128 million shoppers to hit stores across the nation this weekend.
