In one week, a day care in the Segundo Barrio loses a couple of board members after conflicts plagued the non-profit's board for months.

Three Houchen board members have decided to resign. One member has tendered her resignation after moving to another city. Two others, Conrad Soltero and Daniel Armendariz, have decided to resign because they claim they are disillusioned by the financial mismanagement and conflict over decisions at Houchen.

Several members had been involved in a lawsuit and had a temporary restraining order placed against them from makingĀ decisions that violate the non-profit's guidelines and regulations.

"They're not running away from anything. They don't feel they are trying to escape anything. I think what they feel is a great amount of heart-break and despair that this situation seems to be ongoing. They've done everything they can to try to alleviate it, and they just don't see where there might be any hope," said attorney Richard Roman.

Roman is representing several of the Houchen board members.

The board president, Cheryll Felder, said that she has not received an official letter of resignation from Armendariz.

She said the center takes in board members on an annual basis. She said there are about 11 remaining board members, andĀ it will not be negatively affected by their resignations.
