EL PASO, Texas —
Police are investigating a second serious accident this week near the intersection of North Mesa and Executive Center Boulevard in west El Paso.
Just before 2 a.m. Friday morning, a man driving northbound on North Mesa lost control of his midsized truck while coming around a curve in the road, according to police. The truck rolled off the road near a business complex at 4400 North Mesa, hit a water utility box, and landed upside down.
The man was not seriously injured, but police on scene arrested him after he failed to pass a field sobriety test.
The rollover was less than 2500 feet from the accident that killed two young women and critically injured two others Wednesday morning.
Water crews did turn off the water to the surrounding area in order to stop the geyser spouting from the destroyed water utility box.
Police are kicking off a "No Refusal" weekend Friday night to target drunk drivers during the New Year holiday.
