Residents Raise Money For New Parkway

Upper valley residents and Greenbelt activists get involved in fundraising Saturday morning.   Upper Valley residents plan to transform the look of Riverbend Road.   Residents want to see a lot more trees and a trail way instead of the empty desert land.

Activist were out trying to raise money to purchase 180 trees Saturday, which cost $45 each.

"There's too much dust and too much noise, too much traffic, and so if we make it into a parkway were not going to have that problem. People will be much safer, it will be a much better way to live in this area," said Greenbelt activist Carol Miller.

Upper valley residents plan to name the new parkway after coach Jack Quarels, whose efforts began the Riverbend project.   Quarels died four years ago.   If you would like to donate money or some of your time to the project you can call 915-584-7088.
