EL PASO, Texas —

An El Paso commercial realtor credits the proposed downtown ballpark for his recent surge of business and assures those seeking to move downtown, it’s a hint of what is to come once the stadium is complete.

“I just recently sold a property downtown and that property had been listed for eight months. The week that the announcement came out I had four offers on that property,” said realtor Roland Correa.

Correa’s referred to a red-brick building that sits on San Antonio and Durango streets.

Correa said it’s not just this listing that closed in escrow but there are about three other deals that he has closed in the downtown area.

“I have properties that are under contract or that closed, so people want to invest in downtown El Paso, they just needed an economic engine to do it,” said Correa.

The baseball stadium is expected to be operating by 2014.
