Rainy Conditions Create Headache For Holiday Drivers

EL PASO, Texas —

Rainy conditions made travel a little dicey for drivers passing through Las Cruces on their way home after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

"It was snowing when we left Silver City about two hours away," said Dale Lane. "And it has been raining on us the whole way in."

Clouds hung over the Organ Mountains, dropping rain and creating a headache for drivers.

"My wife was just saying we should have looked at the news before we headed this way," said Steve Slater of Yuma, Ariz. "Whatever it is, we have to get through it anyway."

"People were hydroplaning," said Walt Rogowski. "They just left the highway, went out into the median or on the sides of the road."

While some drivers stopped at a gas station to take a break off the roads, many did not want to stop for long knowing that snow is in the forecast in the upcoming days.

"It's definitely not fun to drive in when it ices over on the road," said Antonio Rosales, of Austin, Texas. "So I'll be glad to hopefully be home before the snow comes."
