Several area schools were emptier Friday morning. Hundreds of students from area schools marched off their campuses and onto El Paso streets in protest of Immigration Reform. Right outside our KFOX Studios, dozens of students marched down Mesa Street as they chanted "Mexico, Mexico." Keeping a close eye was an El Paso Police Officer inside his unit.

The demonstrations were coupled with the Cesar Chavez March. That rally started at 10a.m. at San Jacinto Plaza. 300 to 400 people showed up with Mexican Flags and signs in hand stating their disapproval of proposed immigration legislation

Farmworkers were also on hand to honor Chavez. One woman who says she used to work with Chavez in the fields tells KFOX that believes the civil rights leader would have been out there marching with them if he were alive today.

During their march to the border the crowd grew to around 1,000. There was one sign of violence. A KFOX TV crew saw a student who appeared to have been beaten and bleeding.
