Problems With Principal Reported In SISD

Sanchez Middle school insiders said Principal Clarice Jones has made threats against employees and been responsible for missing money.

Notes given to KFOX from a recent staff meeting are now being looked into by the district, which is also checking the legitimacy. "Whether it is right or wrong, no matter the risks, if there's any back talk, Mrs. Jones will take it as insubordination." Also, "No information is to go to the district concerning the campus without Mrs. Jones' approval first."

"You're told that you do everything that you're told, whether it's legal or illegal. Or you'll be reprimanded by her," said the insider. "I think the district needs to investigate, and maybe it's time for her to go."

Another Sanchez insider said thousands of dollars are missing from the school budget. As KFOX reported, some of Jones' secretaries have been accused of stealing money in the past, but these insiders said money continues to disappear, and they blame Jones.

"That's the taxpayers' money. Everybody pays their taxes, and then she does what she wants with it," one insider said.

These insiders said students are the ones directly affected by all this missing money.

"They're promised different activities throughout the year, and those activities never come through."

Because this is a personnel issue, the district did not grant KFOX an interview with Jones. But officials said they are taking these accusations seriously.

Carmen Olivas Graham with the Socorro Independent School District said, “If there are concerns out there, we haven't heard them here, but we're going to check and see if there are. So it might be possible that there are some we just haven't heard."
