EL PASO, Texas —

Just before 3 a.m. Monday, some residents in the North Hills neighborhood reported hearing a loud boom and suddenly the power went out.

El Paso Electric said about 50 homes were affected off Martin Luther King Drive between John Cunningham Boulevard and Marcos Uribe Drive.

A majority of power was restored within the hour, but some homes could still be without power as crews continue to work on the problem and investigate what caused the outage.
