The KFOX news crews caught up with El Paso police officers overnight Tuesday while they were visiting West El Paso convenience stores one at a time to meet with store clerks.
The officers say they talked with the clerks about store safety and what they need to do to protect themselves if they are ever approached by a thief.
The operation is in response to a string of aggravated robberies in Northeast and East El Paso.
