Police: Two arrested for traffic violation found with more than 4 pounds of meth

EL PASO, Texas —

Police arrested two men carrying meth in their vehicle after they were pulled over for a traffic violation, police said.

Around 4:36 p.m. Wednesday, Arturo Abraham Fuentes and Daniel Cordova were traveling in a 2003 Jeep Liberty.

Fuentes, the driver, committed three lane change violation as he was driving east on Alameda Avenue, police said.

Fuentes, 37, was stopped at Loop 373 and the North Loop Drive exit. Police discovered 4.62 pounds of meth inside the Jeep.

Police said Fuentes attempted to run, but he was caught by officers.

The two are charged with possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams. Fuentes was also charged with evading arrested or detention. His bail was set at $150,750.

Cordova, 25, had four outstanding municipal court warrants and was booked with bail totaling $150,942.
