LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

Police arrested two 20-year-old men that may be responsible for the Feb. 20 armed robbery of a Burger King.

Around 9:30 p.m. that day, police were called to the location at 430 S. Telshor Blvd. on a reported of an armed robbery.

Witnesses described both robbers as black men, one of whom may have been armed with an assault rifle. Witnesses said the men demanded money and may have fled in a white Ford Crown Victoria.

On Feb. 28, an off-duty officer saw a vehicle that matched the description driving on Highway 70. Police stopped the vehicle that was driven by Michael Hubbert Jr. After obtaining a warrant, police found an assault rifle in the trunk, assault rifle magazines, .223 caliber cartridges and a black ski mask in the back seat, officials said.

Detectives later determined that Wannie Carson was an accomplice to Hubbert, they said. Both men, from White Sands, are charged with one count each of armed robbery and conspiracy and are being held with bail set at $35,000 eachat the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
