EL PASO, Texas —
An 11-year-old girl's mother grew concerned when her daughter, who she said has a mental disability, went missing Thursday night.
Police were out in the area of Cebada and Alameda in south-central El Paso after they received reports of the missing girl.
The girl's mother reported her missing at about 9 p.m. Thursday.
Around midnight, a helicopter could be seen helping the search for the girl. Police said they also notified Border Patrol agents.
Police told KFOX14 that about 20 registered sex offenders live within a one-mile radius. Authorities went door-to-door looking for her.
Around 2 a.m., police found the missing girl at a friend's house nearby.
She was returned home safely.
The mother told KFOX14 this is the first time her daughter had gone missing.
