Police: Man who crashed into parked vehicle had more than 2 pounds of marijuana

EL PASO, Texas —

Police said a 27-year-old man was carrying more than 2 pounds of marijuana when he collided with a parked trailer in northeast El Paso.

Police said that around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Gregg Anthony Gomez was driving a 2002 Lincoln LS when he collided with a parked trailer and truck in the 6000 block of Deer Avenue.

After the accident, Gomez became confrontational with witnesses as he tried to flee the scene, police said.

As officers confronted Gomez, they found two bricks of marijuana inside his vehicle. The drugs weighed 2 pounds and 4 ounces.

Gomez was charged with possession of marijuana more than 4 ounces, under 5 pounds and obstruction/retaliation. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with bail totaling $6,000.
