LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

A 31-year-old man faces drug-trafficking charges after he was found with a considerable amount of meth, heroin and crack taped to his underwear, police said.

Sean Paul Halpern, 31, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for trafficking in a controlled substance, and he now faces three additional counts of trafficking, police said.

Las Cruces police officers and metro narcotics agents saw Halpern around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mesquite Historic District.

Police send that when he was approached by officials, Halpern attempted to run away.

As Halpern was arrested, a glass pipe with burnt residue fell out of his pocket, police said. He was also carrying a bag filled with more drugs, a large amount of cash and a police scanner that he used to monitor police radio traffic, police said.

When he was booked into the Dona Ana County detention center, guards discovered five plastic bags with methamphetamine, heroin and crack cocaine taped to the front of his underwear.

Halpern's bail was set at $90,000.
