Police made 11 drunken-driving arrests over Christmas holiday

EL PASO, Texas —

From midnight Christmas Eve to 8:50 p.m. Christmas Day, 11 people were charged with alcohol-related driving offenses, police said.

Throughout El Paso, six arrests were made on Monday and five on Tuesday for alcohol-related driving offenses.

Police reported seven cases of first-time drunken driving offenders, one case of a second-time offender and two cases of offenders with three or more drunken driving offenses.

One person was charged with drunken driving with a minor under the age of 15 in the vehicle, police said.

Police also said that an offender was stopped for allegedly driving 95 mph on Interstate 10, where the posted speed limit is 60 mph.
