Police ID Vehicle in Hit and Run

EL PASO, Texas —

A man was hit and killed in south central El Paso late Thursday night.

It happened on the 2100 block of Paisano Drive just after 10:30 p.m.

El Paso police said the man was spotted by an emergency crew driving by in an ambulance.

They said they saw his body lying in the median. Investigators said they stopped to render aid, but the man was already dead.

Police Friday morning identify the vehicle as a 2002 – 2006, Chevrolet Avalanche, Olympic White in color, with damage to the left front and a broken fog light cover.

Anyone with information regarding this hit and run fatality is asked to call the El Paso Police Department at 915.832.4400 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 915.566.8477.

The identity of the man has not been released, but police said he was in his mid-40s.

This is the 18th traffic fatality in 2011 compared to 13 at this same time last year. The victim becomes the 6th pedestrian fatality of 2011 compared to 5 at this same time last year.
