EL PASO, Texas —

A 3-hour city-wide search was called off after police said witnesses reported a person had been shot and taken away during an overnight shooting.

Around 2 a.m. Friday, police responded to a shots fired call in downtown El Paso near Missouri and Durango streets.

Police said that witnesses told them they heard three gunshots and saw an injured person pulled into a maroon vehicle.

Police investigators began a city-wide search for the car that was reported in the shooting.

At about 5 a.m., police called off the search for unknown reasons.

Local hospitals were checked for any patients coming in with gunshot wounds, but police said none were reported.
