Police: Del Valle Assault Gang Related

El Paso police said two people have been charged in Wednesday's assault at Del Valle High School. They said 19-year-old Jorge Flores and a 16-year-old male are charged with aggravated assault and the incident is gang related.

They said the preliminary investigation revealed 16-year-old Christopher Mata asked to be "jumped out" of a street gang in order to join another gang. Mata allegedly asked the two teens to meet him at a specific location to be "jumped out."

KFOX told you how Mata was left bloodied and laying on the floor. Family members say the injuries may have cracked his skull.

Police also said although it appears the victim willingly participated in the event, it is still illegal to assault someone.
