EL PASO, TX —

The pilot of a glider plane that crashed Saturday morning died, said an FAA official. 

The glider plane crashed at the Horizon Airport around 11 a.m., said FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford.

The Horizon Airport is located off Pellicano Drive in Horizon Boulevard. 

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the plane crashed after John Hardy Sr. had problems during takeoff.

Officials with the medical examiner's office identified Hardy.
