ANTHONY, N.M. —

As the rain fell in Anthony, NM on Tuesday, residents did what they could to stop the flow of water coming from the streets and into their homes.

For Laura Landeros, it was too little too late.

"The excavators came so they can take out the water, but we were already full of it," Landeros told KFOX.

She said the rain started early this morning and didn't let up.

"It started to fill up really fast, the water was really strong, it was really fast," said Landeros.

Luckily the water came just an inch short of her front door.

"We only have about a year in this house, and in a month and a half this is the third time this has happened," she said.

Also in the too little too late category was a line of sandbags that by the time they were laid down, the Franklin Vista Apartment Complex parking lot was flooded yet again -- just like on Monday.

"The managers, they got all the water out, but then at night, during the night it started to rain, and so it filled up again," said Diana Sosa.

Edgar Gamboa's yard nearby turned into a river, feeding rushing water from the street to the apartment complex parking lot.

"I have dogs, and my dogs are drowning," he said.

The Anthony Fire Department told KFOX residents are only limited to 10 sandbags per household.
