EL PASO, Texas —

A motorcyclist that died after losing control of his motorcycle on the Purple Heart Memorial Highway on Friday was identified by police.

The accident occurred around midnight Friday morning.

El Paso police spokesman Darrel Petry told KFOX14 24-year-old Dmond White was traveling southbound on the Purple Heart Memorial Highway when he lost control about a mile before the Montana exit.

Police said White was driving a black 2012 Honda CBR 600 at a high rate of speed.

Police arrived at the scene at 12:04 a.m. and found a sports bike lying on its side up against the guardrail.

KFOX14 also received multiple calls to our newsroom from witnesses who saw a body in the road feet away from the sports bike.

Police believe speed was a factor in this accident.

This is considered the 10th deadly motorcycle accident compared to only three at this time in 2011.
