Over $1 Million In Narcotics Seized In New Mexico

DEMING, N.M. —

Within in one week Border Patrol agents in New Mexico have seized, nearly $1.2 million in illegal drugs

On Oct. 23 agents discovered people were walking with large back packs on a infrared camera near mile marker 33, on Highway 9, said BP officials.

Agents found 10 bundles of marijuana in the area, said Agents. A total of 500 pounds of marijuana valued at $400,560 were seized. Officials believe the people headed back to Mexico.

Two days later Lordsburg, N.M., agents people hiding in brush just south of Highway 9, NM26 along with three burlap backpacks filled with marijuana. The marijuana was valued at $132,000. The people and the marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
