Ostrich Skins Stopped At Border

EL PASO, Texas —

Nearly $60,000 in illegal animal skins were stopped from crossing into the U.S. Thursday.

U.S. Customs and Border protection officials stopped a truck trying to cross from Juarez into El Paso after the driver reported carrying only mannequins and officers noticed extra merchandise in the truck.

Officers searched the truck and found $58,000 worth of ostrich skins.

The skins, along with 18 counterfeit designer handbags, were seized.
