Only On KFOX: Car Slams Through Neighborhood

EL PASO —

A crushed rock wall and destroyed car are all that's left of a West El Paso yard after a rough night for one family.

Police and paramedics rushed to the intersection of Belvedere and Good Samaritan shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday after a resident reported that a car had crashed in his driveway.

When investigators arrived on the scene, they found the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu lodged into the back of a pickup truck parked in the driveway.

A man who had been sleeping inside the home ran outside to find what he called "a disoriented young man."

"We were woken up by a large bang and a lot of smoke. I rushed out -- ran outside -- and saw white smoke and once I got to the street and through the door there was this young man running around. ... I saw that he had come onto the property and damaged the property, both the house and my truck," said Kevin Harrell, who lives at the home where the crash happened.

Police told KFOX that the man driving the Malibu is 22 years old. He suffered only minor bumps and bruises in the crash and was transported to Thomason Hospital. Officials said charges may be filed against him pending toxicology reports.

Investigators on the scene said the truck prevented the car from sailing straight into the family's living room.
