DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. —

As part of an ongoing effort to reduce drunken-driving-related accidents, the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office will conduct several checkpoints throughout March.

Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols will take place March 16-17 and March 29 in undisclosed locations throughout the county, officials said.

The checkpoints usually occur during 6 p.m. and 4 a.m., officials said. Deputies will be on the lookout for all violations with an emphasis on intoxicated drivers.

Officials said state law allows for vehicles driven by those convicted of multiple drunken driving offenses to be seized or forfeited.
