EL PASO, Texas —

President Barack Obama is scheduled to arrive Friday morning at Biggs Army Airfield to speak to troops and have a roundtable with service members and military families, White House officials said.

KFOX14 first reported the news of Obama's arrival Monday when El Paso Mayor John Cook said the president would return to the Borderland this week.

According to White House officials, the arrival and departure of Air Force One will be closed to the public, but it will be open to media members. KFOX14 will bring full coverage of Air Force One's arrival and departure on air and on KFOXTV.com.

The president is also expected to deliver remarks at Fort Bliss and that event is also closed to the public.

More Fort Bliss soldiers deployed to Afghanistan on Tuesday, just three days before the visit from their Commander-in-Chief.

Soldiers told KFOX14 they would have liked to see the president. They said if they had the chance to ask the president questions, they would ask about the economy.

Military spouses said they plan to see the President during his brief visit.
