EL PASO, Texas —
Friday was payday for most El Pasoans, but not for some of El Paso's county employees because of a problem with the government-used bank.
"Yeah, I was worried. I think everyone in the county was worried," Sandra Rodriguez a county employee.
The county sent out an email to all employees saying there would be a delay with their pay deposits. But the email also said the county hoped to get them paid by 11 a.m. Friday, or at least by the end of the business day.
Some employees called KFOX14 News and said that had not happened.
"There is mortgages to be paid, bills to be paid, and yeah, I'm sure it affected a lot of people," Rodriguez said.
Others said it was the talk around the water cooler on Friday. Many were worried about their automatic withdraws scheduled to hit their accounts, and some were concerned about immediate expenses like being able to get gas.
The county said it would reimburse employees for any cost incurred because of the problem. County employees who did not see a deposit by 5 p.m. said they would receive a deposit posted by 10 p.m
