EL PASO, Texas —

A New Year's Eve party gaining national attention is set to take place Monday night in El Paso.

"It's something you would see straight out of New York," said Steve Flores, co-owner of Lotus night club.

It's a New Year's Eve party unlike any other in the Sun City.

"This is something that's not just spun together for the sake of a party, this is for, let's build something here," said Flores.

Lotus night club, just five months old, is making its mark in a short time. The venue will host a party -- with two giant ball drops -- one inside and one outside. The concept is modeled after the famous Times Square tradition.

"When we first presented this idea, you know, we had to go before a committee with the city of El Paso. We just kind of started tossing this thing around and we thought how great would this be to create some sort of tradition, you know?" said Flores.

Stanton will be closed off from the corner of Texas all the way to Mills to make room for the block party. Two large heated tents, three live bands, and four DJs will all be a part of the celebrations.

"You have the sunbowl committee, you have a lot of people that are here from out of town," said Flores.

The party is even gaining national attention.

CNN will make its way to the party, according to the owner of the club. A reporter is said to be covering the event live. The owner says any sort of publicity is welcomed, not just for the business, but for the city as well.

"I think we feel very fortunate that we think it's gonna be something we can certainly grow in the years to come," said Flores.
