New Plans In Store For Michelob Ultra Marathon

By Danielle Chavira

EL PASO, Texas —

The Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon board announced it plans to start next year's race at the top of Trans Mountain Road. Organizers also said they want to move the start date from mid-March to early February.

They said they want to attract more cold weather runners for the first-class marathon.

The El Paso Marathon was established in 2006 and has contributed more than $100,000 to the El Paso community, officials said.

Foundation officials also said the marathon promotes health and fitness and brings tourism to the region.

The race helps raise funds for several local organizations, including Avance, a parent education program, which received $10,000 from the organization Thursday.
