A stretch of Interstate 10 between Anthony and Vado has new overhead lights near on- and -off ramps.
The lights were recently installed and turned on late last week.
In 2004, the stretch of road turned deadly for seven people in two different accidents. According to police, both accidents were caused by wrong-way drivers. In response to the accidents, the New Mexico Department of Transportation added safety reflectors to the on- and -off ramps. However, some said the new lights will make a big difference.
"It'll help a lot more where there's a little bit more lighting coming off the ramp," said Jose Soria of Anthony, New Mexico.
But, others said the lights make little difference.
"I can't see where just putting up lights is going to deter people from going the wrong way," said Mina Herrera of Mesquite.
