New Citizenship Test Unveiled

EL PASO, Texas —

The agency that oversees citizenship applications unveiled the nation's new citizenship test Thursday. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said it will start using the 100-question test on Oct.

KFOX had reported over the past year how more than 6,000 citizenship applicants, including many in El Paso, volunteered to take a pilot version of the test.

The agency said the new naturalization test emphasizes fundamental concepts of American democracy, basic U.S. history and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.
