EL PASO, Texas —

After going through a night of sadness and anger, the mother of Yvette De La Rosa is still wondering why.

As KFOX reported, investigators believe Jovanny Rodriguez shot and killed his girlfriend Yvette at their home.

De La Fuente's mother didn't want to interview on camera but she said her daughter lied to her about bruises on her face. She said they know now that 18-year-old Rodriguez hit her, a man they saw as an angel.

Rodriguez's ex-girlfriend, who didn't want to be identified, said although he was supportive when she became pregnant, he became aggressive when she filed for child support.

"He didn't hit until a couple of weeks ago. But when I was eight months he tried to run over me with his truck," she said.

She was still surprised when she found out the news.

"I just got really scared because the first thing that came to my head was when he tried to run over me," she said.

Center Against Family Violence officials talked about the characteristics of an abuser.

"Generally, people confuse being an abuser to having an anger management problem and that's not the case. They don't have a problem controlling their anger because they can control it around other people," said Jennifer Mond a Child Advocate.

Now, De La Fuentes' two children are motherless and Rodriguez leaves his 2-month-old daughter without a father.

"It's really sad. It's sad knowing that he's not with us. It's pretty sad he didn't even met some of the things of his daughter," said the ex-girlfriend.
