Movie begins filming at Fort Bliss

It was all Hollywood glamor at Fort Bliss Sunday as a production crew shot scenes for a movie.

The film is slated to be titled "Fort Bliss" and it stars Michelle Monaghan.

The movie will attempt to humanize the war in Afghanistan by showing it through Monoghan's character -- a female medic.

It'll follow her as she returns from the Middle East and tries to go back to her regular life at Fort Bliss in El Paso.

A public affairs spokesperson said this movie is important as it highlights what it's like for our returning soldiers.

"Such a small part of our population has participated in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is important that the American population knows that there are still soldiers in Afghanistan and there are still soldiers suffering from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and will be for a very long period of time," says Major Joe Buccino, a Ft. Bliss public affairs spokesperson.

Major Buccino said the movie will be shown at Sundance and other film festivals, and said he hopes the movie will be picked up the way the movie "The Hurt Locker" was.
