EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso police have released the identity of a motorcyclist involved in an accident Monday afternoon.

Luis Escalante, 52, died when the motorcycle he was riding struck a tractor-trailer.

The accident happened  in the 1200 block of Pullman near Rojas Drive around 4 p.m in far east El Paso.

Traffic investigators said Escalante was heading northbound on the 1200 block of Pullman at the same time as Earvin Lancelin was driving a tractor-trailer south on Pullman.

They said Lancelin turned left into a parking lot, and Escalante struck the right side of the trailer.

Escalante went underneath the trailer, police said.

Speed and alcohol are not factors in this crash.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

Police said the investigation continues.
