Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile Virus

The City of Las Cruces wants residents to take precautions after a pool of mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The New Mexico Environment Department confirms the mosquitoes that were trapped Thursday carried the virus.

Officials said the recent heavy rains have created a breeding ground for the insects.

To help eradicate the virus, the city will fog a total of two square miles Sunday and Monday.
