EL PASO, Texas —

An El Paso teacher was honored at the White House Thursday as an educator of the year.

Yushica Walker of Morehead Middle School represented Texas as the state's top teacher.

She met with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden -- and said the award reflects on her students.

“It was such a surreal moment. You would've never dreamt of being there and being honored as an educator -- and meeting the president on top of that,” said Walker.

Walker teaches sixth grade science and said her experiences show her students that the sky is the limit.
