More snow expected until midnight

EL PASO, Texas —

Snow will continue to fall in El Paso until midnight, the National Weather Service said.

Dave Hefner, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Santa Teresa, said the storm system is still moving from west to east across El Paso, which will lead to more snowfall in the city.

There is a 50 percent chance of snow tonight before 11 p.m. with 7 to 14 mph winds.

So far, El Paso has received about one to two inches of snow and that may grow to three to six inches by Saturday morning.

"There will be higher amounts (of snow) in Northeast El Paso," Hefner said. "If all the roads weren't heavily impacted now, they will be by tonight."

The most hazardous factor in driving will be the drop in temperature. Just after noon the temperature was 28 degrees.

The forecast for tonight will have it drop to 21 degrees. Hefner said water on the roads will be more likely to freeze.
