EL PASO, Texas —

It received a lot of promotionand now that the musical “Wicked” opens on Wednesday at the Plaza Theatre. It’s expected to bring thousands of people into the downtown area who are expected to spend some green.

El Paso is such a small town, and for such a huge thing to come to El Paso is a great thing," said Sergio Contreras, who plans on seeing the play. “Ithink it's such a great thing because it's such an odd-ball thing. El Paso is about the military and stuff like that."

The musical is expected to bring in $2 million, and about 30,000 people have bought tickets for the first two weeks. The El Paso Times says people in the Sun City are also known to buy last-minute tickets.
