LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

The new Las Cruces Police mobile operations command center is scheduled to hit the road Thursday, according to police.

The $170,000 mobile unit will be in the Las Colinas neighborhood Thursday - Saturday.

Las Cruces residents can meet with police officers and share their concerns about public safety, said spokesman Dan Trujillo.

The unit will be staffed 24 hours until 10 p.m. Saturday.

Parents who like to get their child entered into the Ident-A-Child program can do so for free at the mobile center on Saturday.

Other organizations; Child Crisis Center of Southern New Mexico, the CareNet Teen Pregnancy Center, the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office DARE and GREAT programs, and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish are said to be on hand Saturday.

No appointment is needed to speak to police officers.
